F-Gas certification

The F-Gas Regulation also introduces additional provisions on the companies supplying fluorinated gases. In particular, they are required to keep, and retain for at least 5 years, registers with all the relevant information on the buyers of fluorinated gases, including number of their certification and quantities of fluorinated gases purchased.

Such registers should be kept available for consultation, on request, to the national Competent Authorities and the Commission. Even F-Gas buyers who are not required to submit a copy of their certification (in actual practice, retailers and makers of equipment and systems that do not make use of fluorinated gases outside their production units) should always request and keep the documentation of customers that use F-Gas.

F-Gas leak control

The F-Gas Regulation has also changed the control threshold for leakage from equipment, replacing the quantities expressed in kg of gas with quantities expressed in terms of CO2 equivalent tonnes.

The limit thresholds to carry out the checks and the relative frequency now depend on the GWP of the gas contained in the equipment.
